Oak Grove Baptist Church is a Reformed Southern Baptist Church 01

Who we are...

Oak Grove Baptist Church in Middleburg, Florida is a reformed New Testament Church under the Lord Jesus Christ who is seated at the right hand of God. We are people who, by the grace of God, have repented of our sins and believed upon the Lord Jesus Christ for eternal salvation.

We have trusted solely in the work of Jesus Christ, Who died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins, a substitute in our place, to free us from the judgment of God. Jesus then rose from the grave baring His nail scarred hands from His crucifixion. This trust is by faith which is a gift from God.

We go by the name Baptist Church because of our convictions. We believe that a true New Testament Church consists of only regenerated people who are new creatures, transformed in Christ (by the work and power of god, by the Holy Spirit), who have made public profession of our faith through water baptism by immersion, an ordinance of the church.

We are equipped as a local body under the headship of Jesus Christ, to govern ourselves by the total Word of God. WE are sufficient as a local body without any need for outside governing.

(Ephesians 2:19-21, 4:11-15, Acts 20:21, Acts 2:37-39, II Corinthians 5:19-22, 12:7-11, Romans 12:1-20 and John 3:16

  • What we believe…

  • We believe that all scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction and for instruction in righteousness (II Timothy 3:16) and as such is both authoritative and final.
  • We believe that God is three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, yet only ONE GOD. (II Corinthians 13:14 and Matthew 3:16,17)
  • We believe that Jesus Christ, both fully God and fully man, was made manifest in the flesh in order to save sinners from their sins. His is the only name under heaven whereby, by repentance and faith, men can come into right relationship with God, seeing they are spiritually dead because of their sin. (John 1:1-15; Matthew 1:21; Acts 4:12;Titus 3:5; Ephesians 2:1-5 and Romans 3.
  • We believe that God is absolute sovereign in all affairs of life. He does whatsoever He pleases according to His own purposes and will. This will arises solely from God who is perfect in all His ways and works. He is the God of love, patience, comfort and complete holiness. (Psalm 145:17; Daniel 4:35; Romans 9:20-22; Ephesians 1:1-10; II Corinthians 1:2 and I Peter 1:15-16)
  • We believe in the priesthood of all believers indwelt by the Holy Spirit. (1 Peter 2:5; Hebrews 13:15)
  • We believe and preach the whole counsel of God, knowing that faith comes by hearing and hearing comes by the Word of God. God, being a God of justice, holds man accountable to His Word. (Acts 20:4-24; Romans 10:17; Hebrews 1:2)
  • We believe that the church is governed by itself under Jesus Christ, through the Word of God and with aid of the gifts given to each church. It is under the guidance of the elders and care of the deacons; these are the two offices given to the church. (Acts 6:1-7; Ephesians 4:11-16; I Thessalonians 5:12-13)
  • We believe in the second coming of Jesus Christ in order to receive His own people unto Himself forever and to separate the unbelievers from Himself unto eternal punishment in Hell. (I Thessalonians 4:13-18; II Thessalonians 1:5-12)

What to Expect: Worship Through Music

At Oak Grove we consider music to be an important part of corporate worship. Because we believe there is still power in the “old hymns” of our fathers, we primarily use a standard Baptist hymnal. We also recognize the truth and relevance contained in a variety of more contemporary Christian music, therefore we often incorporate those into the service. Our goal is to offer our praise and worship to Almighty God in a happy yet reverent manner always aware of the directive of Psalm 98:4 to “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord all the earth: make a loud noise and rejoice and sing praise.”

What to Expect: Fellowship

We at Oak Grove are a family and we’re always thrilled to welcome former as well as new members into the family. We believe that some of the most precious moments a family shares together is around the dinner table. That is one reason we gather at least once a month in the Fellowship Hall to eat, laugh and love as part of the Family of God. Are you burdened with a multitude of troubles, cares, needs or perhaps simply looking for a group of individuals to share your life with? If so, Oak Grove Baptist is the place for you. We are convinced that you will not find a friendlier, more welcoming group of genuinely caring believers this side of Heaven. Romans 12:5

What to Expect: Sunday School/ Bible Study

At present our Bible Study time is comprised of a single class of adults. You will find the informal and intimate setting of our study together uplifting as well as challenging. Come join us in the Fellowship Hall Sunday mornings at 9:30 for light snacks, juice and coffee as we feast together on the word of God. 2 Timothy 2:15

What to Expect: Dress

It’s not unusual to observe a variety of clothing choices at our Sunday worship service. Some prefer a more traditional mode of dress such as slacks and ties for men and dresses for the ladies while many feel just as comfortable in jeans and casual shirts for men and slacks and blouses for the ladies. We do not hold to any stated dress code as long as the attire is in keeping with a God honoring, God worshiping attitude. Dress for men and women should be without ostentation while reflecting modesty and moderation. 1 Samuel 16:7.

What to Expect: Nursery

The Lord loves your little children and they are always welcome in our Bible Study and Worship Services. If, however, you feel more comfortable rendering them into the loving care of our qualified nursery workers we are more than happy to oblige. Children are the future church and we consider it a privilege to serve our Lord as caretakers. Psalm 127:3

Reformed Church

Our Elders, Deacons and members are committed to the doctrinal convictions held by the original founders of the Southern Baptist Convention. In 1845, the year of the founding of the convention, all the messengers who met in Augusta, Ga. were men committed to reformed doctrine. The great overarching truth of this theology is the “Absolute Sovereignty” of God. We believe our Heavenly Father is working out His plan and purpose (decreed in pre-creation eternity) in all the events of Earth’s unfolding history, as well as in the personal lives of His redeemed children. Our goal in Preaching and teaching the Bible is to demonstrate His sovereignty in all things. To better understand our beliefs and practices you may refer to the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith.
